Sam Harris’s Waking Up: A Guide to Spirituality without Religion came out last week. Has anyone read it yet?
I posted before about whether or not an atheist can truly be considered spiritual. Part of this depends upon how you define the word, as most would say an atheist can be “not concerned with material values or pursuits.” But if your definition of spiritual has anything to do with a soul, or anything else transcendental, we get into a grey area.
I’ve seen, read of and heard about enough things that seem to defy scientific law, to be able to have an open mind about the existence of some things we have not figured out yet. This does not include there being a god or humans having a soul though.
I wouldn’t define myself as spiritual, would you?
